What are the advantages of lowering the driving age to 15

There is absolutely no advantage to lowering the driving age to 15.

When I was 15 the state I lived in allowed children to get their drivers licenses when they were 15 if they had gone to a state approved driving instruction school.

I went to the classes & did my road instruction with a bunch of other kids & it was pretty much a waste of time. Anyone with an IQ of 50 could pass the tests they gave us. I did not really learn anything but I was allowed to get my license. Two weeks later I was speeding down a dirt road & rolled my car, injuring my brother & two best friends.

It is one thing to learn the laws & rules of the road but quite another to be responsible & mature enough to follow them. In my experience with 15 year old kids today they r not any more mature or responsible that we were 20 years ago.

I have a 12 year old child now & the chance of me allowing him to get a license at age 15 is 0%. I just do not think that kids at age 15 r ready to deal with the responsibility of driving around a 4000 pound killing machine.

i am 15. and i think that i would be ordered to take my dad to and from the pub all the time if i could drive. i dont think that it would be a good idea
.. however i really want to drive when im 17. and i think its unfair that the driving age is probably going to go up to 18 just because of stupid boy racer idiots. my birthday is in july so i am one of the youngest in the year. and i have to wait an extra year to drive . :-(

No advantage at all. That is much to young to be handling a 2000 pound weapon at high speed.

there will be more accidents, so more deaths, so less people in this world to drive, so it will cut down on oil consumption and emissions.

What are the advantages of lowering the driving age to 15

Having another driver in the family is an advantage.

There is a great disadvantage to that advantage though. It is likely that the 15, 16 or 17 year old will wreck the family car, and/or be maimed or killed before they're old enough to drink.

Young people r not equipped with the maturity to handle the overwhelming urge to exercise use of the great power at their disposal. Many adults r likewise.

Age education & experience help but do not make a safe driver. I suggest waiting till they r 16 or so & then strictly limit their use of a vehicle til they r at least 18.

I would not vote for it.

While I certainly can imagine there may be a few who could handle this responsibility well, the larger population of 15 year olds could not.

In NJ exceptions r made for children of farmers. It is a restricted license. I think it is 16 years. Regular drivers must be 17. There r also limits on non-family passengers under 21 & late night restriction (unless reporting to or from work) for those under 18. These limits have helped a bit.

I can see no advantages at all, but see plenty of disadvantages. In fact, there is talk of raising the age here to 18 or older.
